Youth, ages 8-17
Amateur youth bakers, ages 8 to 17, are encouraged to enter the National Festival of Breads baking contest. All recipes must use King Arthur Flour, and yeast bread recipes must use Red Star Yeast.
Youth may enter yeast breads or quick breads.
Yeast Breads: Enter your original YEAST BREAD recipe made using Red Star® Yeast as a leavening agent. May include a traditional loaf, rolls, braids, yeasted waffles, creative shapes, etc.
Quick Breads: Enter your original QUICK BREAD (traditional loaf, muffin, waffle, scone, etc.) recipe made with leavening agents such as baking powder and/or baking soda. Also acceptable is the use of King Arthur® Flour Unbleached Self-Rising Flour.
Youth winners will receive cash prizes only and will not compete at the National Festival of Breads in Manhattan, Kansas. The Youth Overall Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 scholarship. Two youth runners-up will each receive a $250 scholarship.
In addition, youth entries will compete for special prizes, include Best Recipe Using Soy Ingredient, Best Recipe Using White Whole Wheat Flour and Best Quick or Yeast Bread Recipe Using Corn Ingredient.
All entrants must be legal United States residents, residing in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.
