Baking the World a Better Place

June 9, 2015

Chronic hunger is a staggering issue, but one that every baker or attendee at the National Festival of Breads can help address. Festival sponsor Lesaffre/Red Star Yeast and partner Stop Hunger Now will be on hand on June 13 to explain how everyone can get involved through efforts like the two organizations’ joint “Baking the World a Better Place” campaign.

Chessney Barrick Pullen, director of communications and cause marketing for Stop Hunger Now, and Kelly Olson, consumer relations supervisor with Red Star Yeast,  will educate attendees on hunger issues during the National Festival of Breads as well as provide suggestions on how folks can get involved in their own communities by doing something as simple as making a double batch of bread.

Beyond local communities, Stop Hunger Now is “driven by a vision of a world without hunger,” according to Olson. Since 1998, Stop Hunger Now has provided more than 180 million meals in 65 countries. They not only provide meals though, Olson said, they change lives.
